The Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence (CPCoE) is excited to announce that Dr. Abhimanyu Sud has joined the team as the new Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Sud brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. He is an Assistant Professor at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Research Chair, Primary Care and Population Health Systems, at Humber River Hospital. Dr. Sud’s clinical, research, education and advocacy work focuses on the complex intersections of chronic pain, mental illness, and opioid use.

“I am very excited to join the team at the CPCoE” said Dr. Sud. “I see the research that the CPCoE has committed to over the next few years will be very influential to Veterans and their families suffering from chronic pain. I am eager to join the research team and commit to helping foster more Veteran-led research.”

“I believe that Dr. Abhimanyu Sud is going to be an excellence addition to our team” stated Dr. Ramesh Zacharias, CEO, President, and Medical Director at the CPCoE. “Dr. Sud’s extensive background in chronic pain research will be a large asset for us moving forward. We are very excited for him to bring his skills and knowledge to help push the CPCoE forward.”

In addition to welcoming Dr. Sud, would also like to thank Dr. Norm Buckley as he will be stepping down from his role in the coming months. “We couldn’t have started the CPCoE without Dr. Buckley. His knowledge and connections in the chronic pain world helped the CPCoE start on the right foot” said Dr. Zacharias. “We want to thank Dr. Buckley for all he has done for the CPCoE and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
