Vice-President, Research & Innovation at Dalhousie University; Vice-Chair of the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

Dr. Aiken is a co-founder and the past Scientific Director of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research, a unique consortium of over 40 Canadian and 7 international universities dedicated to researching the health needs of military personnel, Veterans and their families. Prior to her current role of Vice-President of Research and Innovation at Dalhousie University, Dr. Aiken was Dean of the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University. She has also held previous appointments as Professor and Associate Director of the School of Rehabilitation Therapy and Head of the Physiotherapy Program, Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. She does health services/health policy research and has a unique focus on military, Veterans, and their families in her work.

Leadership & Board
The Centre of Excellence’s Board of Directors oversees the operations and financials of the Centre of Excellence as a not-for-profit, and includes veterans, industry leaders, and chronic pain experts from McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences and Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.
