Synika began her military career in May 1993 with the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment in Woodstock, New Brunswick. Driven by a deep commitment to service, she transitioned to the Regular Force in 1997, joining A BTY, with the 1st Canadian Horse Artillery.
Over the course of her military career, Synika held a variety of roles within the regiment, beginning as a gunner on the M109 and later serving as a Command Post Technician. Her dedication and professionalism led to an overseas deployment to Bosnia, where she proudly served her country.
Following her military service, Synika carried forward the resilience, discipline, and leadership developed during her years in uniform. Despite sustaining service-related spinal injuries and living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), she has remained committed to helping others and bringing the same strength and determination to her professional work.
